Janice Bennett Obituary
Mrs. Bennett was born on August 26, 1940, in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Murris Bice and the late Etta Mae Burgess Bice. She retired from Thomaston Mills and then worked at the Upson County Registrar Office. Mrs. Janice was very active with the Thomaston/Upson County Chamber of Commerce, the American heart Association, and the Boy Scouts. She was a member of Thomaston First Methodist Church, and taught Sunday School and she attended MYF. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis C. Bennett, son, Rob, and sister, Elaine Wilkerson.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Lee) McCrary of LaGrange, grandchildren, Laura Leigh McCrary of LaGrange, Kelly McCrary of Opelika, Ben (Piper) McCrary of Auburn, great grandchild Joel McCrary of Auburn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from Thomaston First Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. at Thomaston First Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Thomaston First Methodist Church at 132 Cherokee Rd. Thomaston, GA 30286.
