Janice Ann Bloom, 87, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on March 28, 2025, at Evergreen Post Acute in Smyrna, DE, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. We are especially thankful that her long battle with Alzheimer's is over, and she is now rejoicing with Jesus in Heaven.
Janice was born May 3, 1937, in Burlington, NJ, to the late Raymond Thomas and Edna Mae Ridgway. She graduated from Bordentown Regional High School in Bordentown, NJ, in 1955. She worked various jobs throughout her life, but her most cherished role, and the one she will be remembered for, was that of a devoted homemaker, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her hobbies included crafts, planting flowers, and taking pictures. She loved creating photo albums for her grandchildren. Her most gifted talent was sewing, and she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to sew. During her many moves with her husband in the Air Force, she collected seashells from both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. She was a member of Calvary Church in Dover, DE, and was active in many ministries, including Keenagers, Hope Keepers, and the Prayer Chain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Richard Lee Yankie; their daughter, Deborah Ann Pizzarro; and her second husband of 27 years, Duane Allen Bloom, who was a big part of her grandchildren's lives. She was also preceded in death by her grandson-in-law, Michael Wallace and her son-in-law Billy Gleason.
Janice is survived by her brother Ron (Judy) Ridgway of Middletown, DE and her daughters, Michele Ann Donze (Howard) and Deidre Ann Gleason; her son-in-law, German Pizarro, all of Smyrna, DE; and her grandchildren, Jenny Gleason-Torres, Howard (Caitlin) Donze, Michael Donze, David (Amanda) Donze, Thomas (Holleigh) Donze, Philip Gleason, Renee Buckingham, Heather Wallace, German Pizarro Jr., Erica Hewitt, Maria Uribe, Anna Roberts, and Isabella Pizzarro.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Lizette, Billy, Carmen, Arin, Ziya, Dwight, Makayla, Chelsea, Wayne, Zachary, Blake, Kylee, Scarlett, Elliott, Nate, Mason, Elias, Harper, German III, and Anastacia.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 4th, 2025 from 1 to 2PM at Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 2PM. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
Janice's legacy will live forever because she lived for Jesus and guided her family to the Lord.
