Janice Irene Burnison, 71, of Wooster, passed away August 6, 2024 after a short battle with Acute Myloid Leukemia.
She was born March 7, 1953 to Howard and Oreta Wile.
Jan married her high school sweetheart Tim Burnison. She was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church.
Her career consisted of legal secretary, a teacher’s aid and playground supervisor at Apple Creek Elementary after raising kids to school age, other secretarial jobs, and an Avon representative. Enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader, volunteering at Shreve Elementary as a teacher’s aid, loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, playing and coaching volleyball, and traveling (especially to casinos – Las Vegas was one of her favorite places).
Jan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tim Burnison of Wooster, a son Jeremy (Chey) Burnison of New Philadelphia, a daughter Jennifer (Tim) Hochstetler of Dalton, and granddaughters Madeline and Emily Hochstetler and Opie Burnison. Also survived by parents Howard and Oreta Wile of Wooster, in-laws Carol and Patricia Burnison of Wooster, a sister-in-law Sue (Gary) Whitenack of Wooster, a brother Scott (Candi) Wile of Shreve, three other siblings, and her best friend Lisa Bertsch.
Preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Renee Burnison, her niece Sarah Whitenack, and brothers-in-law Gregory and Thomas.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate her life. Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
