Janice E. Cantrell, a devoted homemaker, beloved wife, mother, mawmaw, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by her family at her daughter's home. She was born on October 15, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio, where she set the foundation of a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those around her.
For 37 wonderful years, Janice shared her life with her husband, Ronald Cantrell. Together, they created a warm and loving home where family gatherings were cherished traditions. Janice's strength and spirited wit were guiding lights for her family, embodying the essence of a loving MawMaw. Her heart swelled with pride as she watched her 19 grandchildren grow, each one holding a special place in her heart, as did her multiple great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.
Beyond her role as a homemaker, Janice was an avid reader and a devout Christian, her faith serving as a cornerstone throughout her life. She found comfort and purpose in scripture, and her love for the Lord radiated through her actions. Friends and family alike were often touched by her kind spirit and thoughtful nature, which made her a true confidant and source of encouragement for many.
Janice's legacy lives on through her children, Marcella (John) Daft, Wendy (Jason) Welch, and Jeff (Amy) Whitmire, as well as her son Jimmy (Katie) Whitmire, whose memories of her unwavering support and love will forever hold a place in their hearts. She was also a cherished sister to Teresa, Doug, Tom, Kevin, and Kelly and her bond with her-in-laws' Michelle and Jay was one of mutual respect and fondness.
She was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Fannin, whose guidance shaped Janice into the loving matriarch her family adored. Her father, Happy Fannin, remains a cherished figure in her family’s story.
In her later years, Janice found companionship in her beloved dog, Gladys Jean, who provided her with comfort and joy, reflecting her nurturing spirit.
