Janice Carolyn Cart, age 80 of Lakeland, FL formerly of Madison, IN died on December 2, 2024 at Savannah Cottage Memory Care.
She was born in Closplint, KY on July 3, 1944 to Garland Short and Faye Howard Short. She was raised in Deputy, IN and graduated from Deputy High School.
Janice married Ronald Cart on April 30, 1966 and they started married life in Paris Crossing, IN later moving to Deputy, IN. Janice worked for many years as a secretary at Conn Organ Corporation. After the couple relocated to Simpsonville, SC Janice received a degree in Nursing and worked at Greenville Memorial Hospital for many years. The couple moved back to Madison, IN in 2006 and then to Lakeland, FL in 2015.
Janice and her husband enjoyed traveling and camped in all 48 states. In addition, they had cruised to Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal and Italy. Janice enjoyed sewing, canning their garden produce and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Cart, father Garland Short, mother Faye Short, sister Phyllis Sheldon, brother-in-law David Kinyon, nieces Tracy Hoffman and Lisa Hoffman. She is survived by sisters Jean Kinyon, Arlene (Charlie) Austin, Terry (Robert) Hoffman, Karen (Doug) Vaughan, brother Roger (Ann) Short and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home Serenity Gardens on Wednesday December 4th at 1:00 pm.
