Janice “Jan" Reh Cobb, 65, of La Grange, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home, in the early hours of Tuesday, October 28, 2025. She walked into the sweet arms of Jesus.
She was born on January 11, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Anna Marie (Knust) Reh.
Jan devoted her life to her family, friends, and colleagues.
Jan fulfilled many roles in her family. A beloved wife of 36 years, who was fiercely loyal to her husband, Buford, her rock. A source of light, guidance, and love to her three daughters Anna, Katie, and Jenny. A substitute Mom to many a band kid or friend needing one. A gentle and doting Mimi to Ella and Jude, who were her pride and joy. She just loved encouraging and supporting them, watching as they have grown into such beautiful girls. Finally, a steadfast snuggler to a long list of dachshunds that peppered their marriage, most recently their dear Huck and Penny.
Jan was a trusted friend. You could often find Jan chatting on the phone, coffee in hand, catching up on the latest gab and happenings of all her people; always caring, curious, and amazed. A beautiful soul who cared deeply about kindness and believed firmly in God, Jan was most happy when she saw others spreading love and care.
Jan devoted much of her mind and time to her career and colleagues, the majority of which she spent serving as an administrative assistant to the best of the best at Humana. Buford will quickly tell you that Jan made sure that her department ran like a well-oiled machine, and she was beloved by all of her colleagues and bosses. She took great pride in co-owning and operating the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home in Barbourville, KY with Buford, where she cherished her many roles and supporting the families they served.
We are grieving the loss of Jan, and know that her earthly presence will be sorely missed, especially her short voicemails that always began with “This is Mom”, her all-encompassing hugs, and her affinity for always choosing a movie at night that she would inevitably fall asleep to. We are letting go of a remarkable woman, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a kind soul. As we mourn her loss, we are rejoicing in the knowledge that her body has been made whole and healthy again in heaven.
Jan is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, John Buford Cobb, III; her daughters, Anna Marie Fuqua (Dr. Jacob Fuqua), Katherine "Katie"; Rose Masters (James Masters), Jennifer "Jenny"; Lynn Cobb (Jordan Stewart); her two granddaughters, Ella Jane and Jude Merryn Fuqua; her three siblings, Elaine Schmitt, Denise Webster, Ron Reh (Paula Reh); and furbabies, Huck and Penny.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to every physician, nurse, support staff member, and Hosparus member who aided in her care over the past months.
Visitation will be from 10:00am until 2:00pm (when the funeral service will begin) on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church, 2100 Fort Pickens Rd, LaGrange, KY 40031. Burial to follow at Confederate Cemetery in Pewee Valley, KY. We would like to extend the invitation to all of our friends and family to join us for a meal following the burial, exact time and location to be announced.
