Janice Jean "Jan" Corkery (Donahue) ObituaryJanice "Jan" Jean Corkery, age 82, of Minnetonka, Minnesota, passed away peacefully
surrounded by family. Born on February 17, 1943, in Olivia, Minnesota, Jan was the daughter of
Clarence and Edith Donahue. Her early years were spent in Renville before her family settled in
Mound, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from high school.
Jan briefly attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, before beginning her career at the
Gold Bond Stamp Company (Carlson Companies). It was there that she met the love of her life,
Philip Corkery. The two were married in 1968 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in
Mound, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span more than fifty years.
Together, Jan and Philip raised their two sons Steve and Michael in Minnetonka, where Jan
devoted herself to both her home and her community. She worked for many years as a
dedicated paraprofessional in the Hopkins Public Schools, touching the lives of countless
students with her warmth and patience before retiring in 2004.
In retirement, Jan and Philip embraced life's adventures-traveling, cherishing time with their
grandchildren, and rarely missing a game or event. Jan's greatest joy was being a grandmother,
and she could often be found in the stands, proudly cheering on Caitlin, Megan, and Peyton.
Jan is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Philip Corkery; sons Steve Corkery
(Karmin) of Chanhassen and Michael Corkery of Florida; her brother Thomas Donahue; sisters
Clarice "Dottie" Norlander, Mary Perbix, and Pat Swensen; and her cherished grandchildren
Caitlin, Megan, and Peyton Corkery. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews,
extended family, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Keith Donahue, sister Barb Donahue, brother
in laws Robert Norlander (Clarice), Steve Swensen (Pat), Kenneth "Kenny" Perbix (Mary),
Melvin McCrea, sister in laws Betty Donahue (Keith) and Bernice McCrea, and nephew Brian
Donahue.
Jan will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering support of her family, and the joy she
brought to those around her.
