Delemater, Grognet, Schefe – Janice affectionately known as "Grandma Jan" to all her children, grandchildren, family and friends died peacefully at the Baldwin Care Center, Baldwin WI, April 2nd, 2025 at the age of 86.
Born May 26th, 1938 in Green Bay to the late Kenneth & Blanche (Fuller) Schefe. She was married to Richard Grognet in 1956 -1959. She married Robert Delemater on November 6, 1963. Together they enjoyed 36 years of marriage prior to his passing November 3, 1999. In 2014 she met and shared 6 years of life together with Loren Smeester of Baldwin.
Janice graduated from St.Joseph's Academy in 1954. She was employed at Sure Way Stores for 2 years, Safeway Cheese for 12 years and North Star Print Group (Label Products & Design) for 31 years. She retired on May 23, 2003 just a couple of days before her 65th birthday. Janice remained very active during her lifetime belonging to the Whirl-A-Way Square Dance Club, Starlighters Dance Club, Happy Hoppers Dance Club, Jerry Volker Polka Club, American Business Woman, American Legion Auxiliary, American Legion Past Presidents Club, Green Bay Police Widows Club, Learning in Retirement and a constant blood donor to the American Red Cross. Janice was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church were where she served on the music and worship committee. Later a member of St.Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Janice had a passion for spreading love and kindness to everyone she met. She always had a smile on her face and made everyone she met feel like they were the most important person in the room. She cherished her family. She loved to host family gatherings, bake Christmas cookies, watch movies and eating popcorn with grandkids, taking her grandkids school shopping and playing board games, in 2009 she moved to Baldwin and loved attending hockey tournaments and baseball games with her Grandson's.
Janice had two children Cheryl Grognet (Mike Keuler), Mark Grognet (Joy Watermolen); 3 Step Children Holly (Steve DeLong), Denise (Mike Stroobants), Larry (Judy) Delemater; 7 Grandchildren Chelsea Malchow, Jaimie Keuler, Chad Keuler, Brandon (Jessica) Grognet, Christian (Jessica) Grognet; 5 Step Grandchildren Andy Heller, Courtney Stroobants, Elizabeth Stroobants, Sara Delemater, Stacy Delemater; 8 Great Grandchildren DaShantae Gast, Nolan Lyons, Amya Holstrom, Brecken Malchow, Maddix Malchow, Greta Grognet, Isla Grognet, Kiera Grognet. She is survived by her nieces & nephews, and other relatives & friends.
Janice was preceded in death by husband Robert Delamater; her parents Kenneth and Blanche (Fuller) Schefe; her Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law Alice & Don Delemater and Florence & Wilton Grognet; Sister Dorothy (Dot) (Kiernan) Pruden; Brother Richard Schefe; Brother-in-Law Raymond Delemater; Sister-in-Law Nina (Penny) Delemater; Son Mark Grognet; Daughter Cheryl Keuler; Stepdaughter Holly Delong.
Grandma's Jan's favorite saying: "Friends are like jewels, the more you have the richer you are." She felt she was the richest person in the world.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Woodland Hill care facility in Hudson WI, The Baldwin Care Center, Baldwin, WI and St.Croix Hospice, Hudson, WI for the compassionate care they gave Grandma Jan. Also, to her Daughter-in-Law Joy for taking such great care of her. Making sure she had everything she needed and who was by her side until the very end.
A celebration of Janice's life will be held at a later date in Green Bay, WI
