Janice R. Felker, 80, of Audubon, MN, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Hawley Senior Living, Hawley, MN, under the care of RRV Hospice.
Jan was born in Detroit Lakes, MN, on December 17, 1943, to Olaf and Myrtle (Sandeen) Haugen. She graduated from Lake Park High School in 1962 and moved to Fargo, ND, where her first job was at Nelson Optical. On June 19, 1970, Jan married the love of her life, Clint Felker, of Audubon, MN. After several moves, they made their home in Audubon, MN, where Jan resided until moving into Hawley Senior Living in 2023.
Jan worked in the kitchens of various places in the lakes area where she incorporated her love for baking. Family and friends will cherish the memories of her homemade donuts, buns, and krumkake. She kept an immaculate home and operated her own cleaning service for several families over the years. Jan also loved embroidery and spending time in her flower gardens. As a lifelong member of Park Lutheran Church, she attended WMSTR every year, working tirelessly alongside her friends in the kitchen, preparing food for the crowds. She surrounded herself with music always; whether it was by her husband, Clint, or Elvis Presley, she loved it all. After Clint passed away unexpectedly in 2017, her special dog, Wally, gave her companionship.
Jan is survived by her children, Sean (Becky) Felker, Audubon, and Pam Felker, Detroit Lakes, MN; grandchildren, Aaron (Haily) Felker, Seth (Brooke) Felker, Bracston Felker and Sean Felker II; great-grandson, Braxton Jacquart; sisters-in-law, Maxine Lydell, LaVeta Longtine, Shirley Haugen and Sharon Haugen, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clint, and brothers, Vincent Haugen and Arlen Haugen.
Jan will always be remembered for her smile lighting up every room she entered, her kindness, and her unshakeable faith.
