Janice Arlene Glessner, 88, of Marion, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Winslow House Care Center. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jan was born on October 4, 1936, in Cascade, Iowa, to Orville and Frances (Keating) Koppess. She graduated from St. Wenceslaus High School and retired from Rockwell-Collins, formerly known as Collins Aerospace, in 1994 after 30 years of service.
She was passionate about gardening and took pride in maintaining her lawn. She treasured time with her family, especially when playing card games like Hearts, Spades, and Pinochle. Preparing Sunday lunches for her loved ones brought her great joy. She also enjoyed completing puzzles and playing bingo. Jan was a lifelong member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Deborah Seitz, Dan (Deb) Glessner, Julie Anderson, Jackie Strait; grandchildren, Danielle Ware, Martin Klein, Lindsay (Charlie) Watson, Trevor Seitz, Jonathan (Ingrid) Glessner, Megan Strait, Jordan Glessner, Nick (Sierra) Strait, Brendan Glessner; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley (Dave) White.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association in her honor.
