Janice "House" Hart

Janice E. (House) Hart, of Acton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at the age of 88. Born February 8, 1937, in Maynard, she was the daughter of Horace B. House and Hazel (Wilkinson) House.

She was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Thomas Milton Hart, and her five siblings, Charles A. House, Barbara M. House, Ronald B. House, James W. House, and Elaine H. (House) Wolf. Janice is survived by her three children: Jean S. Hart and her partner, John J. Schurman II; Robert A. Hart and his wife Suzanne; and David J. Hart and his wife Maureen. She also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Jocelyn, Nicholas, Kathryn, Stephanie, and Ashley.

Janice graduated from Concord High School in Concord, MA. Her career of many years was dedicated to helping others as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Cleary in Concord and Dr. Rosen in Maynard before retiring.

She was a Devoted Wife, Mother and friend to many. A lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the West Concord Union Church for most of her life. Her interests included Family, Genealogy, Gardening, Needlework, Knitting, and Puzzles.

Arrangements are under the direction of Acton Funeral Home and Services will be held on Thursday, February 5th at West Concord Union Church, 1317 Main St., Concord, MA. Services will begin with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM in the sanctuary. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Central Street, West Acton. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janice's memory may be sent to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
