Janice Darlene Holten, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janice was born on December 31, 1939, in Spring Grove, Minnesota, the daughter of Earnest and Thelma (Folkedahl) Thorson. She was united in marriage to Howard Holten on April 22, 1956, in Decorah.

Janice would help anyone in need. She enjoyed trout fishing, ceramics, woodcarving, singing, music, and gardening. Above all she loved her family dearly.

Janice is survived by her children, Jaye Albaugh, Nikki (Vince) Dvorsky, Lane (Tonya) Holten, and Jeff (Lisa) Holten; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Nathan (Sandy) Thorson, Phyllis Blaess, Arthur (Linda) Thorson, Katherine Thorson, Elton (Vicki) Thorson, and Sheryl (Steve) McConnell; and many nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Thelma Thorson; husband, Howard Holten; children, Tony Holten, Julie Holten, and Shane Holten; grandson, Levi Holten; sister, Evelyn Bigler, and brothers-in-law, Roger Bigler, and Richard Blaess.
