Janice Keen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 21, 2025.
Janice Marie Keen, age 78, of Franklin, KY, formerly of Madison, TN, passed away on July 19, 2025. She is survived by her daughters, Tina Sells and Martha Hardiman; grandchildren, Joseph David (wife Danielle David), Lauren Patterson (husband Ryan Patterson), Kayla Hobson (husband Michael Dobson), and Jessica Johnson; great-grandchildren, Addison Baxter, Kamrynn Baxter, Savannah Patterson, Barrett Hobson, Brandon Hobson, Aspin Spurlock, Tyler David; and her partner, Ronnie Hackett. Janice Marie Keen, affectionately known by her nickname "Red," was a vibrant and spirited woman who embraced life with humor and strength. As a homemaker, she devoted herself to her family and cherished every moment with her beloved husband, Woodrow Keen, until his passing a few years ago. Janice loved bringing colors to life through her coloring hobbies and found joy and community in playing bingo, a passion she enjoyed greatly. Known for her outspoken nature and quick wit, she often filled rooms with laughter and love. Her family, including her sister and all her siblings, meant the world to her, and she shared a deep bond with each of them. Janice's strong character and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her family remembers her as a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always there with open arms and a bright smile. Her legacy of humor, strength, and love continues to inspire those who knew and loved her.

Although Janice was my mother's cousin, I referred to her as Aunt Janice and she affectionately called me Debbie Dee. Most of my time with her was spent as a little kid in church. My favorite memory was one particular day in church I was sitting beside her as the offering plate came around. I only had a quarter so I dropped it in the plate and proceeded to pull a dime or nickel from the plate. She grabbed my hand so fast and squeezed until I dropped whatever I pulled back into the plate. Of course she explained her actions after service and gave me a dime to go spend at Miss Knights' Store next to the church. My guess is she gave many life lessons to others.
Big hug to you Aunt Janice and give Uncle Woody and big hug from me too!
