Janice Dae Kendra, loving wife of 48 years to the late John Stephen Kendra II, passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 71.
Beloved mother of Jeremy (Valerie) Kendra, and Jennifer (Greg) Chabi. Sister of Dianne Bell and Doug (Patty) Robertson. She was preceded in death by her brothers Dennis (the late Toni) Robertson and Jack (Beth) Robertson.
Devoted grandmother of Kendra (Nathan) Woodward, Jillian and Alissa Chabi; Aiden, Ryan and Alina Kendra. Great-grandmother of Nathan Jr., Jaxon, Declan and Emma Woodward.
Janice was born on March 7, 1953, and raised in Plymouth, Michigan, by her late parents, James and Dorothy Robertson (Barnes). She met John, the love of her life, while in high school. They married in 1970, and remained deeply devoted to one another throughout their lives.
Janice was an avid gardener, gracious host, and loyal friend, maintaining several close friendships from childhood. She created a beautiful home, painstakingly cared for and surrounded by beautiful gardens of her own design. She was incredibly thoughtful and always let friends and family know how often she kept them in mind. Not a single holiday or birthday passed without receiving a card in the mail, and she loved giving gifts just to let someone know they were appreciated. Janice particularly loved Christmas and put Santa Claus to shame with her generosity and attention to detail: beautiful decorations that each had a history or story to share, stunning tablescapes, and perfectly wrapped presents surrounding the tree. She was a wonderful cook (who made the very best Christmas cookies!), and created memories and traditions that her family will always cherish.
Janice's true passion in life was her family, and she was dedicated to being an amazing grandmother. Her grandkids were her world and she showered them with love and affection, always giving her undivided attention. From walks through the Hundred Acre Woods, to fighting monsters in the basement, battling waves on the high seas, and judging the Penguin Olympics, Janice always had an adventure waiting. She loved to snuggle up with books, play games, and truly gave her grandchildren an idyllic childhood. As her grandchildren grew, Janice loved to brag about their recent accomplishments to any and all, and always had a picture to share.
Janice faithfully dedicated her life to giving her family and friends beautiful moments to remember. She will be missed more than words can possibly express and will forever be in our hearts.
