Janice May Obituary
In loving memory of Janice Helen May, July 19, 1938-October 29, 2025
Jan "Mimi" May of South Yarmouth, MA, daughter of the late Walter and Emma Rudolph, sister of Bill Rudolph (Barbara), passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 29, 2025.
Jan was the loving wife of Frank May for 67 years. Together they had 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Jan was the proud, devoted, and loving mother of Robin Ihloff (Ernie), Jeff May (Lisette), and her predeceased daughter Lori Mau. Mimi will be missed tremendously by her grandchildren; Meaghan Hayward (Jake), Eric Ihloff, Lauren Danku (Bond), Lindsey Hughey (Jay), Jeffrey May, Madison Fernandez-Mau (Kevin), and Alex Mau. She was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren; Chase & Owen Hayward, and Henry & Emma Hughey.
Born in Holyoke, MA, she met Frank while attending nursing school at Springfield Hospital, and they were married on August 23, 1958. She was passionate about her career as a Registered Nurse, fulfilling her lifelong desire of helping others. She later became a nurse for the Head Start program, assisting and caring for underprivileged children. Her selfless compassion inspired her daughter Robin and 2 grandchildren Meaghan and Lauren, to also devote their lives to nursing.
Mimi loved spending her days on the Cape and in Jupiter, FL, cooking, reading, & playing board games with her friends and family. She was a lifelong avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Jan loved watching the sunrise with her morning coffee, while in Jupiter, especially when her family was visiting. The incredible sunsets on the Cape created lasting memories for Jan, Frank, and her family. However, nothing gave her more joy than visiting with, Facetiming, and talking with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her love of her family will forever be her lasting legacy.
She will be dearly missed, but her spirit, love, and compassion will live-on and endure forever in all of those who were blessed to know her, or were touched by her in some way.
Jan's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 7pm, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 205 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth, MA.
