Janice Mick Obituary

Janice A Mick
Frankfort, MI
08/15/1935 - 01/09/2025
After a long illness, Janice Ann (McMonagle) Robinson Mick (Jan Mick) was called home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2025. Jan was the daughter of James A. and H. Louise (Whitcomb) McMonagle. She was born in Flint, Michigan in 1935. Soon after, the family moved to the Lansing area where her father taught at Michigan State. After WWII, the family moved to Royal Oak, Michigan where Jan finished high school, graduating in 1953. During her high school years, she belonged to the Literary Club, Future Teachers of America, and Girl Scouts. She spent many summers at Girl Scout camp where she completed a counselor-in-training program. Jan graduated from Western Michigan University in 1957 with a degree in Elementary Education. In college, she joined Alpha Omicron Pi Society and Future Teachers of America. Jan was the treasurer of her Senior class. She began her teaching career in Rochester, Michigan in the fall of 1957.
In 1958, she met and married Edward Willfred Robinson. Together, they had five children. Jan loved sewing and quilting for her family. Flannel shirts were one of her specialties. Gardening in her flower and vegetable gardens were her summer projects. Canning for the winter kept her busy. Jan taught Sunday School for over twenty years. She designed and organized the library at First Baptist Church of Rochester. When her boys played little league baseball, Jan was a player agent and score keeper for Avondale Little League. After the death of her husband, Jan enjoyed working at a local florist.
In 1990, she married Ted Mick and moved to Benzie County where she became involved in the community, including the Republican Party, Republican Women of Benzie County, Gideons, and Emmaus. She served on the Board of Canvassers and the Jury Board. For several years, Jan was county organizer for the National Day of Prayer. She especially enjoyed volunteering as a mentor for Kids Hope. Jan was a member of the Wing Family of America, her family's ancestry, where she served as corresponding secretary for five years.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Louise McMonagle; first husband, Bill Robinson; second husband, Ted Mick; aunt, Rebecca Straddling Wagonschutz; granddaughter, Heather Elizabeth Mick; step grandson, Joseph Flores; and step granddaughter, Brittany Audrey Mick. Surviving Jan are her children, Dean (Susan) Robinson, Steven Robinson, Peggy (Tim) Mick, Jeffrey (Shannyn) Robinson, Charles (Kathleen) Robinson; step children, Yvonne Flores, Robert (Laurie) Mick, Scott Mick and Judy (Jay) Hallan; grandchildren, Kyle (Rebecca) Mick, Holly (Chad) Juras, Meghan Riley, Amy (Mike Joseph) Robinson, Quinn Robinson, Zachary Robinson, Ryan Robinson, Delaney Robinson, David Robinson, Sara Robinson, Kiely Robinson, Moose Flores, Christopher Mick, Rebecca Brickly, Jessica (Avery) Fuller, Daniel (Tabitha) Mick, Christine (Nick Foust) Mick, Alexandra Mick, Derek Good and Alexander Hallan.
