Janice Kay Morgan, age 78 of Murfreesboro and previously of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Franklin Wellness and Rehabilitation in Franklin, Tennessee. She was born in Dayton on July 11, 1947, the daughter of the late Warren Gardner Stuart and Edith Carolyn (Calbaugh) Matthew. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Wayne Stuart.
Janice grew up in Dayton before relocating to Murfreesboro in 2005. She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from UTC. Professionally, she worked as an accountant, and in her personal life she had a passion for reading, antiques, and collecting depression glass and pewter. Above all, she was a woman of devout Christian faith.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Davina (Jeffery) Tompkins of Murfreesboro; her grandson, Alex Stuart Tompkins of Murfreesboro; her granddaughter, Natalie (Austin) Tompkins Springer of Clarksville; and her brother, Casey Milton (Susan) Stuart of Signal Mountain.
A funeral service for Janice will be at Vanderwall Funeral Home in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with Dr. Barry Purser officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton.
