Janice Perry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home on Feb. 25, 2026.
Janice A. Perry, 89, a longtime resident of Cheney Street in Newport, died peacefully on February 19, 2026 at Summercrest Senior Living Facility.
She was born in Hillsborough, New Hampshire the daughter of Edward C. Radford and Lillian (Gregory) Radford on December 8, 1936. Janice graduated from Towle High School.
Janice was married to Olin Peter Perry, Jr. and shared over 50 years of marriage, raising two sons, Michael and Peter in Newport.
She was committed to her family and husband Olin. Janice was always there for her sons, loving and supporting them, and encouraging them to further their education. She was proud of her son, Peter, and all he had accomplished. Sadly, her son Michael passed away in 1998, and she and Olin then stepped in to help to raise Michael's daughter, Amanda Perry, whom she loved dearly.
While raising her family, Mrs. Perry worked for over 30 years as the Director of the School Lunch Program at the Newport Schools. She was a beloved leader, and her team appreciated her dedication and work ethic, retiring in 1996.
Janice was a dedicated member of St. Patrick's Church, spending hours helping with anything that needed to be done. She assisted with the offerings following services, served on the bereavement committee, and decorated for holidays and other special days. She was also a humble and dutiful Eucharistic Minister for many years.
Believing in serving others, she was a volunteer at the Newport Service Organization and at one time served as the NSO manager. She valued the friendships that she made during her time with the NSO and supported their mission to help the community.
Janice and Olin had many close friends in town, and cherished those relationships. They also loved to travel; they took trips out West, to Virginia Beach, went on cruises, and enjoyed the sights and music in Nashville.
Janice will be remembered for her kindness, wit, and generous nature. She has now entered into eternal rest, reuniting once again with her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Newport, followed by a reception in the parish hall. Committal prayers and burial will be at a later date.
