Janice Perry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Abbey Cremation Service - Rocky Hill on Mar. 30, 2026.
Janice Perry (Pontillo) passed away suddenly on March 12, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love that defined her life. She was 62 years old.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and later rooted in Stratford, Janice built a life that was full, complex, and deeply human. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, giving so much of herself to others-offering care not only with her hands, but with her heart. She showed up for people in the ways that truly mattered.

Janice was unforgettable. She was bold, expressive, strong-willed, and entirely her own person. She didn't try to fit into the world-she moved through it in her own way. Her smile could light up a room, and her voice-whether laughing, talking, or telling a story-was something you never forgot.

She loved the warmth of the sun on her skin, the calm of the beach, the quiet peace of sitting by the pool, and the comfort of long phone calls that turned minutes into hours. She found joy in connection-in being present, in being heard, and in simply being with the people she loved.

Her heart belonged deeply to her beloved dog, Moby, whose companionship brought her comfort, loyalty, and unconditional love.

Janice's life was shaped by deep love and profound loss. She carried the heartbreak of losing her beloved son, Robert Rotonto Jr., a loss that stayed with her always. She is now reunited with him, along with her dear sister, Joyce Pontillo, and her nephew, Rob Hanscome Jr. Though their passing came so close together, her family finds peace in imagining them reunited.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, John Perry; her stepchildren, Alex Perry and Alicia Perry Rosa; her daughters, Brittany Scinto and Cortney Squezello; and many grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Beth Hanscome, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She genuinely enjoyed taking them all to Strawberry Park!

Janice loved fiercely, felt deeply, and lived life entirely on her own terms. She will be remembered for her voice, her smile, her strength, and the lasting imprint she left on all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

A private service will be held with close family and friends.
