Janice Marian (Horrigan) Quinlan, 56, of Quincy, passed away in her husband's embrace at home December 19, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.
The youngest of four children, Janice grew up in Sharon and Dennis, MA and graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in 1985 and from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY in 1989 with a degree in English. A lover of literature, she remained an avid reader her whole life. She lived in San Francisco, a city she adored, for three years before returning to the Boston area, and beginning her career in Human Resources at The Museum of Fine Arts, where in 1993 she met her beloved husband, John. She later worked as Membership Manager at the Wang Center for the Performing Arts, and, since 2006, for Suffolk University Law School, positively impacting many students as a member of the Moot Court team.
A life-long animal lover, Janice was a committed vegetarian and the loving owner of several cats who were truly her fur babies. She was a passionate follower of U.S. and European figure skating and gymnastics and frequently attended skating shows around the Boston area and beyond. She also loved theater and musicals, films, Italian food, good wine, margaritas, afternoon tea and crossword puzzles and enjoyed visiting many historic sites and national parks throughout the U.S. with her husband. She thrilled to see and breathe in nature's landscapes, from the grandeur of the Tetons to the crashing surf at Newport. Her family and friends will especially miss her sweet, gentle nature, her kindness and compassion, and her sense of humor.
Janice was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Donald and Lois (Watson) Horrigan. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, John T. Quinlan of Quincy, MA; two sisters, Susan Phillips of West Yarmouth, MA and Sandra Nimrick (Bruce) of Solon, OH; one brother, David Horrigan (Holly) of Needham, MA; parents-in-law Patricia and Joseph Hennelly of Milton, MA, sisters-in-law Jennifer Quinlan and Lisa Quinlan of Dorchester, MA, brother-in-law Frederick Quinlan of Quincy, MA and 12 nieces and nephews; and 9 great-nieces and nephews.
