Janice M. Sheelar

Janice M. Sheelar, age 90, died January 11, 2023. She was born March 11, 1932 in Rochester to Fred and Lorma (Grabb) Chesbro and had lived in this area over 60 years.
She was a member of the Medina United Methodist Church where she served as organist for over 20 years. Janice taught in the Royalton Hartland Central School district for over 30 years and then taught 3rd grade in the Medina Central School system for a short time after that. She also continued to substitute teach in both districts following her retirement. Janice was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. Mrs. Sheelar was predeceased by her husband Dennis in October of 2021 as well as her brother Robert Chesbro and sister Hazel Ann Castro.
She is survived by her daughter: Sharon Lee Sheelar of Middleport and her grandson: Patrick Sheelar of Middleport. A special thank you to her very special friends and caregivers: Stephane Mainville and Sam Yacono.
There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on FRIDAY January 20th at 11am in Mount Albion Cemetery, Veterans Companion Section. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Rd., Niagara Falls, NY, 14304.
