Services are scheduled for 2 pm Thursday, June 26, at First Baptist Church for Janice Gayle Shields in Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Shields, 73, died on June 21, 2025 in Artesia.
Ty Houghtaling will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Shields, Bruce Waldrip, Jake Waldrip, Josh Waldrip, Jonathan Johnson, Jesstin Gadbury. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Wednesday from 2 to 6 pm.
Janice was born on August 6, 1951 in Roswell, New Mexico; the daughter of Jay Stanley Waldrip and Wanda Louise Chisum Waldrip. Janice married David Shields February 20th 1971. Janice lived her life split between Lakewood on the family farm and Carlsbad New Mexico. Graduated from Artesia High School. Received her Registeered Nursing degree from New Mexico State University Carlsbad. Worked at Carlsbad Medical Center and other Doctors offices, clinics and Hospice programs. Her life was completely devoted to the service of God, her family and to helping others.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband David Shields; a son David Brandon Shields wife Breanna; daughters Lori Ann Haynes husband Davey and Shelley Renee Calicoat; brothers Jimmy Randall Waldrip and Bruce Wayne Waldrip; grandchildren Johnathan Johnson, Chelsea Brewer, Jesstin Gadbury, Mattie Baeza, Saryn Shields and Callen Shields; also by numerous great-grandchildren.
