Janice Kay Slay, age 78, of Albia, IA, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Janice was born on March 3, 1947, in Albia, IA to Pete and Louise (Martin) Post. She attended Albia Schools. She lived all her life in Albia and 13 years in Lovilia. Jan was a member of the United Methodist Church. She married Paul Turner in Lancaster, MO, in 1964. They shared 25 years before Paul's passing in 1989. To this marriage they had 2 children, Kevin Paul (Chris) Turner of Albia and Michelle Turner of Ottumwa. She later married Gary Slay in 1990 at the Little Brown Church. They were married 13 years before Gary's passing in 2003. She had worked at the Monroe Care Center. Jan loved to travel in their motor home and spend winters down south. She also loved spending time with her grandson, Kyle. Jan is survived by her children; 2 brothers, Pete E. (Shirley) Post of Cedar Rapids and Tim (Jodi) Post of Albia; and a grandson, Kyle Paul (Shelby) Turner of Albia. Jan is also survived by several many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Turner and Gary Slay; her parents, Pete and Louise Post; a sister, Jenny Landsperger; a brother, Kenneth D. Post; a niece, Linda Kraber; and a very special friend, Jim Beaumont. Per Jan's wishes, her body has been cremated and no formal services are planned. Cards of condolences/memorials can be sent to Janice's family c/o Tharp Funeral Home, 116 Benton Ave. West, Albia, IA 52531.
