John Raymond Anderson

John Raymond Anderson, age 73, of Oskaloosa, IA, formerly of Albia, IA, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. John was born on August 4, 1952, at the Smith Hospital in Albia, IA, to Earl and Katherine (Havelock) Anderson. He grew up attending school and graduated from the Albia High School with the Class of 1970. On August 1, 1975, he was united in marriage to Marta Paulette Rowley at the Methodist Church in Bussey, and to this union, 2 sons, Jason and Justin, were born. John and Marta shared 39 years of marriage prior to Marta's passing on June 20, 2015. John began his working years baling hay while in high school. He then worked in the foundry at Clow Valve Company in Oskaloosa from 1975-1992 before going to work at Vermeer in Pella where he worked in assembly as a group leader until his retirement in 2017. John enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He was a true sports enthusiast who loved watching sports center and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Above all else, John cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. John is survived by his 2 sons, Jason (Kristi) Anderson and Justin (Jennifer) Anderson; 3 grandchildren, Chase (Macie), Electra (Donavyn), and Mikael; 2 great grandchildren, Lilliana and Kasyn; and a brother, Jimmy Anderson. John is also survived by several cousins and good friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marta; his parents, Earl and Katherine Anderson; and his grandparents. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with John's family present to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating. Burial will follow services at the Hiteman Cemetery in Hiteman. An open memorial has been established to the family.
