Janice Louise Smith peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Somerville, NJ. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, to Hattie Mae and Tommy Smith, Janice moved to New Brunswick, NJ in 1966, where she built a fulfilling life and career.

She worked for Johnson & Johnson before joining Bristol-Myers Squibb in Lawrenceville, NJ, retiring after over 25 years of dedicated service. On March 21,1991, Janice was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Jersey City Assembly Hall, committing her life to faithfully sharing God’s Word.

Janice is preceded in death by her mother Hattie Mae Ashmore, sister Dorothy Jean Williams, and nephews Ivan and James Williams.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Canice S. Harris and grandson Ky’hire Harris; nieces and nephews Carla Williams, Kevin Williams, Sonya Williams (Sidney), and Damica Williams; as well as a host of great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.

Her kindness, faith, and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
