Our dear mother, Janice Loraine Tansel, age 77 of Rochester Hills, passed away on October 30th, 2022, in her home under the care of hospice following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Jan was born on Sept. 9, 1945, in Akron, Ohio to Richard and Edith Forgy. She is survived by Louis Tansel, husband of 58 years, daughter Michele Collier, and son Ron (Amy) Tansel. Jan was blessed to be Nana to eight grandchildren: Austin, Denton (Kassie), Preston (Crystal), Garrett, Maile, Quinn, Noelle, and Thalen. She has one great grandchild, Atticus. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, twin sister, Jeanette and younger sister, Alice.
Jan was a graduate of Springfield High School in Holland, OH. She was active in many extra-curricular activities and clubs including the High School Marching Band. For over 50 years, Jan worked as an Executive Legal Assistant. Jan has called Michigan her home since 1976.
Jan enjoyed singing, playing the keyboard and organ, and spending her time with her children and grandchildren. She dedicated her life to serving in various ministries including Youth and Ladies Ministries, Sunday School, and Music Departments. She also served as Church Secretary and was a Trustee. Her passion for mentoring youth was demonstrated throughout her lifetime and she impacted the lives of countless people. Jan was adventurous and creative, and had a talent for organizing parties, banquets, and celebrations. If you were ever on "Jan Time" you were guaranteed to have a great time.
