SMYRNA, Janice "Betty" Elizabeth Tarr, 82, passed away on October 30, 2023, after a long battle with dementia. She was born October 6, 1941, in Niantic, CT., the daughter of Frederick and Leila (Manwaring) Odgers.
Janice loved to do crafts, and could often be found working in her gardens, going camping and traveling and spending time at the ocean, but above all spending time with her family was most important to her and her greatest love and joy.
She is survived by her children, David and his wife Cindy of Oakfield, Douglas and his wife Kathy of Oakfield, Glenn and his wife Janice of New Limerick, Janice Hitz of Smyrna and Nancy and her husband Bruce of Smyrna, grandchildren, David and Tracy Tarr of Oakfield, Desiree and Gabe Shute of Brooks, Cameron Tarr of Oakfield, Devon Tarr of Houlton, Sterling and Stacey Tarr of Oakfield, Stephanie and Chris Hartin of Island Falls, Natasha Honeycutt of Oakfield, Kylie and Matthew Donahue of New Limerick, Kurtis and Casey Tarr of Hodgdon, Samantha and Jeff Condon of Ludlow, Erica Crawford of Houlton, Nathan London of Bangor, Alisha Tingley of Houlton, Veronica Soule of Corinth, and Evan and Judy Hall of Ludlow, 28 great grandchildren, her sisters Shirley Tarr of Oakfield and Pat Martin of Florida, brother-in-law Warren (Junior) Tarr and his wife Barbara of Connecticut, and sisters-in-law, Jean Tarr of Oakfield, Margie Casey of Oakfield, and Linda Morton of Island Falls.
She was predeceased by husband, Sterling Tarr, her parents Frederick and Leila Odgers, her brothers, James and Frederick Odgers, brothers-in-law, James Tarr and Paul Tarr, and her son-in-law Guy Hitz.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 1:30 PM at the Oakfield Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Seiler officiating.
