Janice White Obituary
Born on June 13, 1956 to Richard C. Wheaton and Nora Wheaton, Jan was raised in Lakewood where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Edward White, who preceded her in death in 1986. The two were married in 1977 and raised two children in Manchester Township.
Janice attended nursing school in Germantown, PA, and began her decades long career in nursing at Point Pleasant Hospital, Point Pleasant, NJ and later at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Affectionately known in the medical community as "Mrs. White", her dedication to service and generosity of spirit will continue to be felt by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness and mentorship to others.
Jan is survived by her son Matthew White, of Bend, OR; her daughter Sarah White and her husband Edward Maar, NYC, NY; her sister Kathy Shearman, of Brick, NJ; and her brother Richard Wheaton and wife, Laura, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Viewing will be Sunday January 18, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, with a service at 5:00pm, at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River, NJ, and a gathering to follow.

You were my mentor when I came to work in the Emergency Room in Point. You always were considerate, caring and professional. We worked many years together and always found her to be compassionate. I couldn't have had a better teacher. I am so sorry I can't be there for your service, as I have the flu and don't want to expose everyone. Jan, you will be affectionately remembered and missed.

I have been a volunteer in the emergency room at Ocean University Medical Center for 6 years. I met Mrs White shortly after I started volunteering and she and I always had great conversations about many subjects. She was one of the sweetest, most caring persons and nurses I have ever met. My late wife was an RN, and Mrs White was always curious about how her training was done in the 1960's as compared to hers. She will be sorely missed by everyone in the ER and I will miss her dearly. Heaven has gained a very sweet angel!

I worked with Jan years ago in Brick ER. She was an amazing nurse and caring person. She always offered her help where ever needed. Proud to call her a colleague. God Bless you Jan. She´s most likely in charge of the ER in the "BIG HOUSE" now. Condolences to her family.
