Janie Hall, a beautiful soul with a heart full of grace and love, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025. Her life was a living reflection of kindness, faith, and joy, a true angel here on earth who touched countless lives with her gentle presence. To know Janie and have her be part of your life in any capacity was truly a God sent blessing. Janie will be deeply missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her warmth, her laughter, and her endless love will echo in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Born in Haywood County and raised in Tipton County, Janie carried with her the values of hard work, humility, and respect for all people. Janie was a proud graduate of Covington High School, where she made sure to keep in touch with as many classmates as possible over the years. Janie worked in the banking and medical industries, where her sharp attention to detail and quiet dedication earned her the admiration of many. She was always respectful, always dependable, and always wore a smile. Janie also served as the secretary for the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department. Perhaps Janie's most familiar roll in the community was at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home as hostess and the cemetery administrator. Her kind heart and familiar face gave comfort to families when they needed it most. The compassion that Janie had can never truly be put into words.
While working at Union Savings Bank, Janie served as the President over the American Cancer Society of Tipton County. This held a very special place in Janie's heart. She served selflessly and faithfully, devoting her heart to helping the families inside the community. Janie unknowingly would be returned with the same compassion from her community when she faced her own battle. Prayers, visits, fundraisers she contributed to all.
Though she was soft-spoken, Janie's warmth and joy shone brightly. She loved a good joke, and when something truly tickled her, her laughter would dance through the room, and she would crinkle her nose and have a rose-colored glow on her cheeks. Her smile was so bright, it could lift the heaviest of days. Janie never met a stranger. She made others feel seen, valued, and loved. Her compassion ran deep, and she consistently set an example of how people should be treated, with patience, grace, and a loving heart. Her love was unmatched.
Her devotion to Christ shaped every part of her life. A faithful Christian lady, Janie was a member of Charleston Baptist Church. She loved her church and the church family that became such a vital part of her world. Janie lived her faith with quiet strength, leading not just by words but by action and example. She spent years as a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. Janie always believed that with Christ and prayer no battle was ever too big to handle.
But it was her family that meant the most to her. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart, offering endless hugs, wise words, and unwavering support. Janie and her beloved husband Eddie, of 51 years, built a life rooted in love, respect, and faith; a partnership that inspired others. She believed in him wholeheartedly, always standing beside him and cheering him on. Janie was mighty in ways that matter most, through her compassion, her integrity, her enduring love. A Daddy's girl in her younger years, she carried those early lessons into a lifetime of setting a standard for others to follow.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents; J.D. Martin and Ophelia Howard Martin, and siblings; William Howard (Brownsville), Katherine Howard Goodenough (Memphis), Ben Howard (Charleston), Emma Howard (Charleston), Lou Henderson (Mississippi), Jerry Martin (Covington).
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Ed Hall, Jr., daughter, Michelle Hall, grandsons; Jeremiah Johnson and Jacob Johnson (Danielle), great-grandsons; Paxton, Frankie, and Charlie Johnson, and siblings; Georgia Howard Carver (Charleston, TN), David Henderson (Saltillo, MS), sister-in-law, Cheri Cousar (
Covington, TN), numerous nephews, and nieces, "grand-nephews", "grand-nieces", "great-grandnephews", and "great-grandnieces", and her beloved little fur-baby, Molly-Mae.
Charleston Baptist Church & Cemetery were both very dear to Janie's heart. Memorials can be made to Charleston Cemetery in honor of Janie Hall.
