Janie Pelt, 83 of Clarksville, passed away suddenly, leaving behind a family forever changed by her absence and forever grateful for her life. Janie was the sweetest, most loving woman — the kind of person whose presence felt like comfort. She loved God with her whole heart and lived by her faith, reading her Bible every day and trusting the Lord in all things. Her love for her family knew no limits; she showed it not just in words, but in the countless small, thoughtful acts that defined who she was.

She found joy in caring for others. Whether it was baking her famous lemon pies to share, cooking for her loved ones ‘just because’ or tending carefully to her flowers, Janie was always doing something for someone else. Her home and her heart were always open.

While many knew her as gentle and reserved, those closest to her were blessed to know her silly side — her playful moods that would always light up the room.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents Verna and Alto Varnum, her siblings Inez Krouger, Norbert Varnum and Billie Jean Varnum and most recently her beloved son Doug Sewell.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Pelt; her daughter Lana Stewart(Jeffrey); daughter-in-law Theresa Sewell, sister, Sible Firestone; sister-in-law Betty Morris; grandchildren Chelsea Creel(Kenny) & RayRay Williams; step-grandchild Lauren Boley(Chris); great-grandchild Laila Mae Creel; Step-daughter June Hiatt(Lee); three step-grandchildren, Robin, Liam and Jack Hiatt, and many nieces/nephews, cousins, and her friends who were like family.

Janie’s life was a testament to faith, kindness, and devotion. Though her passing was sudden, the love she gave so freely lives on in every life she touched. She will be deeply missed & lovingly remembered. Her family will find comfort in knowing she has joyfully reunited with her Savior.

A celebration of Janie's life will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The service will begin at 12:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior, providing an opportunity for all who loved her to come together, share stories, and honor the remarkable life she led.
