Janis Louise (Kurtz) Christianson passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones on November 3, 2025. She had a short, but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Portland, Oregon, on October 26, 1954, to Pearl and Townsend Kurtz. Jan grew up in Northeast Portland and graduated from Grant High School in 1972.

On October 10, 1981, Jan married Paul Christianson and together they built a life filled with lots of humor, and a deep devotion to family. Jan worked at US Bank in downtown Portland for more than 30 years, forming many lasting friendships. Jan was a dedicated and steady presence at US Bank until she retired in 2021 and was happily living a leisurely retired life spending a lot of quality time with her family and friends.

Jan was happiest when surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Paul; her children, Stacey (Marcus Kohler), Andy (Janice), and Kelli (Jeff Dayton); her siblings, Dave (Nancy) and Nancy Taylor; and her granddaughters, Madison, Mackenzie, Isla, and Clea. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Jan will be remembered for her extreme generosity. She was always willing to share what she had, lend a hand, and make sure no one was left out. She rooted for the underdog in every situation – championing the overlooked, supporting those who needed a little extra kindness, and always showing compassion for those that needed it. She will be enormously missed by those that loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jan in early 2026.
