Janis Clark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tippecanoe Funeral & Cremation Services on Mar. 19, 2026.
Janis Diane Clark, 79, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. Janis was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Born on July 14, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Janis was the daughter of Owen and Phyllis Kirby. She never met a stranger. With a heart of gold and an open door to all, Janis had a genuine love for people and a smile for everyone she met. Her laughter, warmth, and welcoming spirit were contagious to all who had the joy of knowing her.

Janis was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. On August 21, 1965, she married the love of her life, Edward Clark. Together they built a life filled with love and raised three daughters: Sheri, Julie, and Susan. Janis was her children's biggest supporter and rarely missed an opportunity to attend events and activities for her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Janis had many passions in life. She was actively involved in the St. James Lutheran Church Bazaar and enjoyed serving her church community. She loved baking her family's traditional holiday cookies and proudly passed her special touch down to her children. Janis also had a deep love for flowers and gardening. She shared this passion professionally as a Master Floral Designer at The Flower Mill and Lafayette Flowers.

Above all else, Janis treasured her family.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Phyllis Kirby, and her beloved husband, Edward Clark.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce Kirby; her sister, Debbie Hasler; and her three daughters: Sheri Ludlow (Jason), Julie Bills (Bobby), and Susan Wiseman (Roger). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kaylee Toler, Clorissa Knight, Tyler Wiseman, Malorie Marchand, Melanie Marchand, and Allie Marchand, along with eight great-grandchildren.

Janis will be remembered for her loving kindness and the way she made everyone around her feel welcomed and valued. Her love for life and for those she held dear will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Dementia and Alzheimer's Foundation in Janis' name.

Janis will be laid in her final resting place at Rest Haven Cemetery in Lafayette, Indiana, May 30, 2026 at 2:30 PM.

A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at American Legion Post 11 in Lafayette.
