Janis Hawkins Obituary
In 1974, Jan graduated from Baldwin Wallace with a bachelor's degree in education and for the next 35 years taught school at East Elementary in Mount Vernon. She was dedicated to the children and always told them to follow your dreams; anything is possible. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Jan was a huge Ohio State fan and enjoyed watching game shows, court shows and scrolling through Facebook. She loved her canine and feline companions, especially Snickers.
Jan is survived by her sister, Carol Hawkins; uncle and aunts, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 in the Community Room at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Lasater Chapel 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd., Mount Vernon. Please use the side door.
Memorial contributions may be made to any animal shelter or a charity of one's choice in Jan's memory
