Janis Marie Meyer, 85, of Austin, TX passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 3, 1938 in Hearne, TX to Julia and Jeff Starkey.
Janis met her husband, Kirby Meyer, while working at Texas A&M University. They were married on July 3, 1957, and were happily married for 56 years. She counted as her greatest achievements raising her two children and leading others to Christ.
After her children were in school, Janis worked at Kirby's engineering firm, MLAW, as Comptroller. Later, she continued her career as Executive Secretary/Office Manager for the Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Janis served the Lord by teaching Bible classes and working with Kirby and church teams to help design and oversee the building of several churches. She loved church, fashion, shopping, reading, and going on RV adventures with Kirby, her children, and grandchildren. Janis will be remembered by her family and friends as an incredible wife, mother and loving grandmother. Most of all, she loved the Lord intensely.
Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby Meyer and is survived by her daughter, Melanie Davis and husband Rick, her son Kyle Meyer and wife Erin, and grandsons Josh, Connor, and Tyler Davis, and Austin and Andrew Meyer.
A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, August 18th at 3:00 p.m. at the New Bremen Cemetery, FM 626, Karnes County, TX.
