Jan” Janita Sue Vert
Jan passed away from complications related to her battle with cancer June 12, 2024.
Jan was born July 8, 1953 in Bakersfield, CA to Jack and Bonnie Webster, she spent her childhood in Bakersfield and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1971. She married the love of her life, Doug Vert in 1973. They had two girls, Jacee and Melissa. Doug and Jan spent the early years of their marriage in Bakersfield. In 1982 they moved to Doug’s hometown of Coalinga, CA to raise their girls. In 1996, Doug and Jan moved to Montrose, CO where they had always dreamed of retiring. Shortly after, the girls followed them out to Colorado to be nearby.
Jan spent many years working as a dental assistant, in both Coalinga and Montrose. Most recently she worked for AllPoints Transit as an accountant. Where in 2020 she was employee of the year.
June 30th would be Doug and Jan’s 51st wedding anniversary. Jan loved to spend time in the mountains, camping and riding 4wheelers. Many summer vacations were spent at Huntington Lake and Miramonte Reservoir. She also loved to travel, her and Doug made many trips over the years, and she would always bring home a coffee mug or shot glass as a souvenir for their collection. Jan will always be remembered by her friends and family as a very kind and loving person. She gave all of herself to her family and cherished watching her grandkids in sports.
Jan was preceded in death by both of her parents and her father-in-law, Robert Vert. She is survived by her beloved husband Doug, her mother-in-law Wanda Lee Vert of Visalia CA, stepmother Carol Kirkendall Webster of Hemet CA, her daughter Jacee and husband Bill Luis of Montrose CO, daughter Melissa and husband John Rogers of Montrose CO, 5 grandchildren: Natalee Luis, Leyton Luis, Kaylee Proctor, Cody Proctor and Kayleb Rogers all of Montrose CO and many more family and friends.
The family will have a time of remembrance and reception celebration of Jan’s life on September 7, 2024 in Montrose. For details, please contact Jacee or Melissa via text or Facebook.
