VERT, Paul William - Age 71, of Flushing, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, after a lengthy struggle with ALS. A service to celebrate Paul's life will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Paul's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 2 PM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to ALS of Michigan or Autism Alliance of Michigan.
Paul was born November 29, 1953 in Flint, the son of William and Pearl (Gray) Vert. He grew up in Otisville, where he developed a deep love for music. Paul graduated from Lakeville High School in 1971, and by the late 1970s, he began his career in music. Paul was a talented and respected keyboard player and vocalist. He played with many area bands over the years which included the Flint River Band, CJ Leftus, and most recently as a long-time member of Magic 5, who grew to be treasured friends.
He married Laura Dee Vamos September 26, 1987 in Flint. They raised their children, Danny and Melanie in Flushing where they made their home for the past 25 years. In 2021, Paul was blessed with the joy of becoming a grandpa to Mikey. Paul loved sports and was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are: his wife, Laura; son, Daniel William Vert of Flint; daughter, Melanie Lynn (Brett) Behan of Flushing; grandson, Michael William Behan; sister, Marion (James) Glanton of Davison; brother, James (Jeanene) Vert of Davison; sister-in-law, Vicky Vamos of Flint; brother-in-law, William (Laurie) Vamos of Flint; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Vert. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice, Michigan ALS, and Comfort Keepers for their support.
