He grew up in the Portland area, attended Glenfair Elementary School, and graduated from Reynolds High School. He graduated from Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, AZ, where he specialized in Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Jared grew up enjoying camping, antiquing, and creating art. He was a free spirit who traveled around Oregon, living in various places including Mt. Hood. The central Oregon coast held a special place in his heart. He faced many challenges in life, and learned and grew through those challenges. Beneath his tough veneer he was an introspective thinker who cared deeply for friends and family. He found peace in nature. He enjoyed visiting the beach and eating a delicious crab cocktail. He loved animals, especially his faithful companions Sister and Lady.
Jared is survived by his mother Rose Kuhnau, sister Erin Elm, and nephews Aidan and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Mehrlich and stepmother Leslie Mehrlich.
Jared's family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation to Multnomah County health care workers Mary and Elwood, whose care and compassion made a huge difference for many years in Jared's life.
We say goodbye to this wonderful soul who has been an important and unforgettable part of our lives. Jared will continue to be with us in spirit and will live on in our hearts.
Memorial Service will be held June 15th, 1:00 pm, Courtyard Fountains, 1545 S.E. 223rd Avenue, Gresham, OR, in the Chinook Room. Remembrances may be made to the Oregon Humane Society.

Grow up with him. Went to glenfair elementary from 3rd grade until Reynolds high School. I remember when he lived down the street from me when I lived off 162nd and Burnside. I remember spending the night in elementary school years over at his house. I remember one of his best friends back then was Heather. He was always a good friend. I asked him here recently last year if he needed anything because I seen him going threw ruff times. I'm glad I had a chance to talk with him a little bit and catch up. I hope he's in a better place now. Rest easy my friend.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Mehrlich family and friends. I will cherish the countless moments of laughter shared with Jared and he will forever be one of the beloved chatters remembered among our ranks.

Only knew Jared from Agostinho Zinga show live chat on YouTube and I don´t believe he had passed, he always seemed to say the funniest and most outlandish things, blurring reality and satire. I believe he had mentioned his illness, but I thought it was him putting us on. RIP Legend. "BIG UPS JARED MEHRLICH" thank you for the good times brother.

Jared was what we called, The Original Dabbler. Everyone knows this to be true. He def paved the way for others to make a legendary status for themselves. People like Jake Hudson and Wendy owe all they have to Jared. Jared was also a lover of dogs! We speak your name. RIP
