Jared K. Romine

Jared K. Romine, 34, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 10, 2020. He was born in Rockford, IL on June 5th, 1986 to Keith and Cheryl (Smith) Romine. Jared graduated from Western Illinois University and later returned to school to pursue his "true calling". He graduated from Rockford University with a degree in physical education. Jared was a P.E. teacher at Whitehead Elementary school. During his time at Whitehead, Jared's happy, vibrant, and fun-loving personality allowed him to inspire both his colleagues and his students. Jared adored his students and had an enormously powerful impact on their lives. The support and dedication that he gave to the youth in the Rockford Community will never be forgotten. He was an incredible man and teacher. Throughout the years, Jared coached football at Flinn Middle School, sophomore basketball at Jefferson High School, and football and baseball at Rockford Lutheran High School. Jared was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the Chicago Bulls, Illini basketball, and especially his 20+ year tradition of watching the Chicago Bears with his dad and brother. Aside from teaching and coaching sports, Jared was a kindhearted son and brother, fun loving uncle, and great friend. He had a personality that would light up a room, especially his infectious laugh and smile. He was truly one of a kind. He is survived by his parents; siblings, Grant (Jessica) Romine and Ashton Romine (Mike Stewart); nephew, Jack; niece, Stella and maternal grandmother, Wilma Romine. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a future project at Whitehead Elementary School in Jared's name.
