JARED ANTHONY SMITH DIAZ
FEBRUARY 11, 1970 – APRIL 5, 2025
Jared Anthony Smith Diaz, age 55, passed away on April 5, 2025. He was born February 11, 1970, to Joseph Clarence Smith (1900–1980) and Aldina Diaz (1928–1980).
Jared was raised within a large and unique family. His father, Joseph, was first married to Amelia Gladys Caudle (1907–1987), and together they had seven children: Gloria, Melvin, Nadine, Gordon, Elaine, Anne, and Marcia. These seven are Jared's half-siblings and represent a legacy rooted in faith and hard work.
Joseph later married Aldina Diaz, and they had Jared. Due to Joseph's declining health and Aldina's return to Guatemala, Jared experienced a few transitions in his early years. Before Joseph's passing, guardianship was formally given to Melvin (Joseph's oldest son) and his wife, Dixie Smith, who raised Jared in their home alongside their six children: Janay, Denise, Kenneth, Eleah, Chalene, and Lyra.
He spent most of his adult life in the Austin, Texas area, including Round Rock and Taylor. Jared worked as a self-employed plumber and electrician, known for his strong work ethic, firm opinions, and generous spirit. He cared deeply about people and gave freely of his time and skills to help others.
Jared proudly embraced his Guatemalan heritage, traveling to Guatemala and connecting with siblings from his mother's side. This journey of self-discovery led him to add "Diaz" to his name.
Jared is survived by his children, Aldina and Bryce, and by two of his half-sisters, Elaine and Marcia. He is remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. His influence will be remembered, and we trust he has been welcomed by the loved ones who passed before him.

Jared, It was awesome to have been your friend. The phrase I will not ever forget is "Smell that? That is Reverse"... I know you will remember that forever, too.
