Ricahrd Eubank Obituary

Richard Allen Eubank
04/06/1929 - 01/29/2026
Richard Allen "Rocky" Eubank, cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed into God's eternal embrace on January 29, 2026, in Austin, Texas. Born on April 6, 1929, in Spurlington, Kentucky, to John Clyde Eubank and Marie "Mame" Bowles Eubank, both of whom preceded him in death, Rocky's journey through life was marked by honor, service, and a steadfast love for his family, church and country.

A proud patriot, Rocky was a valiant veteran, dedicating 30 years of his life to the United States Air Force. A Tactical Fighter Pilot, he exhibited unwavering courage and skill in the cockpit of the F-100 and F4 aircraft. His 339 missions over the skies of Vietnam spoke volumes of his commitment and bravery, earning him the Distinguished Flying Cross alongside numerous other medals, honors, and awards from both the Air Force and Marine Corps. He retired in 1981 after serving as Director of Operations and Vice Wing Commander. Post-retirement, he remained connected to his military roots through his membership with "ACES," the American Legion, the Order of Daedalians, and as President of the 31st Fighter Officers' Association.

Rocky's quest for excellence began early as the Valedictorian of Ligonier High School's class of 1947. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University in 1951, followed by a Masters in Business Management from The George Washington University in 1972.

Endowed with a diligent spirit and deep Christian faith, Rocky was a pillar within the Manchaca United Methodist Church community. He served as a conference director for Lay speakers for ten years, was a delegate to the UMC jurisdictional conference, and acted as the Director of Evangelism for five years. His service was not just limited to the ecclesiastical sphere. Rocky was actively involved in the Longhorn Foundation and served as President of the Onion Creek Homeowners Association, where he also enjoyed playing golf and supporting the Women's Golf Association of Onion Creek Golf Course.

With a heart as expansive as the Texas skies, Rocky's life was a touching symphony of kind gestures, selfless acts, and a faith-filled existence that inspired all who knew him. He was a beacon of integrity and a testament to unwavering strength, ever willing to lend a helping hand.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Ann Whisenhunt Eubank, Rocky's legacy of love and honor is carried forward by his surviving family. He was a devoted father to Lisa Alyn and her deceased husband Jim Alyn, Teri Eubank and her partner Gina Butcher, Rick Eubank and his wife Jennifer Eubank. His memories will be treasured by his grandchildren Elizabeth Shahan, William Alyn, Trey Eubank, and Jill Eubank. His sister Pat Holland, along with nephews and great-grandchildren, will hold dear his memory.

Rocky's departure from this world leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. He now rests with the heavenly host, his mission on earth completed with valor and virtuousness. His light continues to shine in the memories cherished by those who loved him. As we commend Rocky to his final rest, we reflect on a life well-lived, and a faith well-kept.

Let us celebrate the legacy of Richard Allen "Rocky" Eubank, whose life was an embodiment of the scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your lord." (Matthew 25:23).

A funeral service will be held 6:00pm Monday evening Febuary 23rd, at Manchaca United Methodist followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
A graveside service will be held 11:30AM Tuesday Febuary 24th, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
