Samuel Ashe Rios, 47, of Austin, passed away on February 14, 2026. He was born on June 9, 1978, in Knox City to Sammy Rios.
Samuel was a quiet soul who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his cats and listening to his record collection, often losing himself in the music he cherished. Those who knew Samuel will remember his love for family, and the comfort he found in the things that made him happiest.
He is survived by his father, Sammy Rios, and mother, Lou Rios, of Knox City, Texas; his sisters, Stephanie Barraza and Patricia Rios. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Alyssah Garza, Anistazia Garza, Alyannah and (Evelyn) Garza, Ariel Perry, Sylvester Barraza Jr., Matthew Barraza, and Daniel Barraza; and his great-niece, Aunya Rose Hernandez.
Samuel is further survived by his step-sisters, his step-brothers, and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph Rios Sr. and Josephine Rios; and his uncles, Ralph Rios Jr., Rudy Rios, and Danny Rios.
A viewing for Samuel Ashe Rios will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home, 210 Ave A, Knox City, State Hwy 222, Knox City, Texas 79529. Burial services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Samuel’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
