Jarrett “Jerry” Lynn Lewis, age 83, of Mankato, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Mankato Lodge Senior Living.

 

Private services will be held. Family and friends are invited to a public celebration of Jerry’s life from 3-7pm, Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Morson-Ario-Strand VFW Post 950, 1900 North Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN 56001. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Please share a memory of Jerry with his family and view his video tribute at www.mankatomortuary.com.

 

Jerry was born September 16, 1939 in Mankato to Edward “Roy” and Thelma “Nadine” (Robertson) Lewis. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1958 and was an all-star athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. Jerry entered the US Army on November 4, 1958 and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1964 He was united in marriage to Patricia Thrun on August 18, 1961 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Jerry worked for the Blue Earth County Highway Department for over 30 years until he retired on September 21, 2001.

 

He enjoyed golfing and playing softball, riding motorcycles, woodworking, playing bean bags, and visiting the casino. Jerry always had a well-stocked fridge when family and friends stopped by. He was a generous family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

 

Jerry is survived by his children, Brenda (Jim) Deopere of North Mankato, Chris (Bryan) Reich of Red Wing, and Dan (Lori) Lewis of Red Wing; grandchildren, Logan (Staci) Deopere, Alex (Matt) Johnson, Bryanna (Joe) Sandquist, Emily (Joel Gadient) Reich, Jordan Winberg, Brittany (Jason) Fechner, Erin Pugh, and Sam (Nick) Erickson; great-grandchildren, Crosby, Tripp, Callahan, Sam, Will, AJ, George, Drake, Cameron, and Riley; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; brother, Don Lewis; sister, Barb Horsager; granddaughter, Kiley Reich-Winberg; grandson, Erik Lewis; and other special family members.

 

The family wishes to thank the Mankato Lodge and Moments Hospice for the care given to Jerry.
