Mr. Jarrette A. "Jerry" White, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Jerry was born December 17, 1931, son of the late Jarrette A. White, Sr. and Mary Jones White. A native of Winder of Winder, GA, Barrow County, graduating in 1948 from Winder High School. He began college in 1948 at North Georgia Military College (ROTC) and graduated in 1953 from Georgia Tech with a degree of Bachelor's in civil/ Structural Engineering.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served active-duty Infantry and Engineers during the Korean War period. Jerry received infantry basic training in the 3rd Army at Ft. Jackson, SC and later detailed to Army Service Forces serving with the 4th Army, 5th Armored Division and the 2nd Army at the Engineer School, Ft. Belvoir, VA, as a military instructor.
He spent 40 years in civil/structural engineering with 34 of those years with Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, GA analyzing and testing military aircraft; he also served as structural engineering liaison to USAF military and civilian personnel. He retired in 1995 as an Aircraft Structural Integrity Department Manager whose duties and experience correlated to an assimilated military rank of colonel.
He and his wife Faye Johnston White were members of Cedar Creek Baptist Church near Adairsville, GA where he was an assistant Sunday School teacher, choir member, and attempted to sing bass. He was an active member of the North Georgia Military College Alumni group "Friends Are Forever". He loved music, played a little piano and enjoyed singing at church with his friends who called him JAWS.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faye J. White, daughter, Leslie W. Allen (Mark); sons, Jarrette A. White, III (Sally), Russell M. White, Stephen J. White (Bekke), Brian W. Johnston (Tera), and Todd M. Johnston(Rebecca); grandchildren, Lauren Norwood (Chad),Erin Mallon, Hannah M. Allen (Grant Schumacher), Jarrette A. White, IV (Melissa), Caroline Moylan (Drew), Rebekah Dampier (Jordan), Molly White, Ben Johnston, Morgan Johnston, and Liam Johnston; and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 3:00PM from Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Adairsville with Reverends Gregg Free, Larry Hibberts, and Jarrette White, III officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00PM until 3:00PM at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 54 Folsom Road, NE, Adairsville, GA 30103. A private interment will be prior to the service in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton with military honors.
In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Jerry's memory.
