ATLAS - Jasmine Marie Paskell, 96, of Atlas, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, in Van Nuys, California.
She was born July 3, 1927, "Jez," as she was known by family and friends, was the eldest of four children born to Antoinette and Francesco Rossi.
After graduating in 1945 from Mount Carmel Township High School, she attended Geisinger School of Nursing where she earned her associate degree in nursing and then attained her license as a registered nurse.
In 1952, she married Peter Paskell, at St. Peter's Church, in Mount Carmel. They soon moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where they raised their four children.
Jasmine worked as a registered nurse at Parma Hospital. After 47 years in Ohio, she returned with Peter to Kulpmont.
She was a parishioner for more than 10 years at Divine Redeemer Church.
After her husband's passing in 2004, Jasmine remained in Kulpmont until 2014, moving to Chicago where her daughter Mary lived. In October 2022, Jasmine relocated to Los Angeles near her sons, Mark and Jack.
Jasmine was an avid reader, enjoyed live musicals and had a passion for Roman history as well making kuchens, Easter lamb cakes and her Italian pizzelles.
Jasmine is survived by her children, Mary, Jill, Mark and Jack; grandchildren, Blair, Mary and Ben; and siblings, Rosalie, Loretta and Francis.
PASKELL - Jasmine Marie Paskell, 96, of Atlas. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Divine Redeemer Church, 300 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, with Father Bernard Wamayose AJ as celebrant. Burial will follow at the All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 172 All Saints Road. Elysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders. Arrangements are in care of C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor.
