JASMINE IRENE (LEFTWICH) PORTER was born Tuesday, September 27, 1988, in
Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of Pamela Anita Mason, who already was a young mom to five children, but held nothing back when it came to her Jazz. It was obvious from the beginning that they had a special bond.
As a young child, Jasmine had the ability to captivate a crowd. She was tiny in stature but had a large personality. She was always the best babysitter. She rarely said 'no' to anyone who asked her. Jasmine was giving, nurturing, supportive, and motivating. She absolutely thrived and excelled as a big and little sister. We all agreed that she was our pit bull!
Jasmine kept the same small group of friends and was a consistent pillar for them. She always wanted nothing but the best for them. She made a lot of people proud but not surprised, when she decided to move to Las Vegas, Nevada, for college. When she returned home, Jasmine jumped back into her role as a caregiver to her family, both young and old.
Jasmine had an entrepreneurial fire within her; one that could not be extinguished. By the fall of 2013, Jasmine began an in-home childcare business. She became every baby's "Auntie Jazz!" She ran it with ease and with a passion to progress.
Jasmine revealed an innovative side of herself that many didn't know she possessed. She inspired so many during this time. We watched Jasmine navigate motherhood and her household, while fulfilling her dream and eventually opening her very own Childcare Center, Our Little Einsteins!
Jasmine adored and protected Antony Porter, Sr., her life partner, her travel buddy, her protector, her love, and her husband. She demanded love but most importantly, Jasmine respected him the way a true queen would.
Her first born was her son, Antony Jr. Jasmine wanted everything to be perfect for him. She was so afraid of getting things wrong. Antony changed her. Becoming his mother, made her more woman than ever before. Ziaire was her one and only daughter... her joy. Jasmine raised her in a world of unicorns and rainbows! She instilled confidence in Ziaire, which only a mother could, and made sure she was very attentive to her wants and needs. Jasmine became softer for her. Jasmine led her family, her home, and her business with a fierceness and with respectability that only she could do. She was a mother figure to us all and will be more than missed.
GONE TOO SOON. On Saturday, July 1, 2023, our beloved Jasmine Irene Porter passed in the comfort of her own home. She was thirty-four years of age. Jasmine was preceded in death by her mother, Pamela Mason Clements; stepfather, Willie Clements Alexander; brother, Cleve Devon Alexander; aunt, Yvette I. Mason Artist; uncle, Ernest Johnson; and cousins, Dominique Hanson and Antwaun Artis.
