Patricia Vasser Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caliman Funeral Services - Columbus on Dec. 24, 2025.
Patricia Ann Vasser Silver was born on October 11, 1947, the fourth child of Rosie V. Vasser-Jackson and Quedellas Vasser. After graduating from The Ohio State University, she visited California. She said the warm weather and California sunshine felt like angels singing to her-and she never looked back. Patricia relocated to Los Angeles, where she gave birth to her daughter, Misty Wilks, and met and married her first husband, Ralph Kennedy.
Patricia remained in Los Angeles for more than 30 years, working for and eventually retiring from the United States Postal Service. After remarrying (Eddie Silver Jr.), she relocated first to Virginia and later settled in Florida to be closer to her family.
Patricia's journey included lots of traveling with her daughter or her sisters. Her more adventurous trips included white-water rafting, horseback riding, and advanced zip-lining in Costa Rica, She has also been to the Dominican Republic, Barcelona, Madrid, Belize, Venice, Wales, London, Ireland, Nicaragua and several Caribbean islands on cruises with her sisters. Most recently, she fulfilled a meaningful journey to Ghana, Africa, traveling with her daughter. She also took countless road trips with her father, Misty, and her longtime friend Sandra B., and over the course of her life lived in six different states.
Following retirement, Patricia devoted much of her time and energy to caring for others-first her mother and later her husband. She maintained lifelong friends such as Loretta T., Sandra B. and Bobbie B., while also joyfully forming new friendships with "Daisy and the girls" her line dancing and book club groups.
A life long avid walker and recent bicyclist, Patricia began most days logging five to ten miles while listening to Oldies but Goodies or the Blues. This might have been to offset her barely controllable love for all things chocolate. She's broken a tooth eating chocolate covered nuts then asked for pounds more the next holiday. Just this past October, Patricia charmed her way to two full sized chocolate birthday cakes. The only thing Patricia was more passionate about was reading. A voracious reader since finishing Gone With the Wind at just nine years old, she easily read more than 1,000 books in her lifetime.
Though she often joked that she hated cooking and shopping, Patricia routinely prepared complex, multi-course meals. She proudly claimed her status as a Ross shopper since the 1980s-long before it was fashionable-and could often be found at Ross, Goodwill, or the Salvation Army. These were places she supported not only through shopping, but also through generous donations of money, furniture, and appliances, never forgetting how they helped her family when she was a child.
Patricia is survived by her daughter, Misty Wilks; her stepdaughter, Alexis Silver; and her beloved husband, Eddie Silver Jr. She is also survived by her siblings-Joan Vasser, Johnnie Vasser, Carla Vasser, Margaret Turner, Donald Vasser, Ronald Vasser, and Sharon Vasser-along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and double first cousins.
Patricia lived a full and intentional life and will be remembered for her strength, resilience, generosity, and deep love for her family. The sound of her laughter and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of many. She truly earned her wings and is now finally getting the rest she so richly deserves.
