Jason David Ackerman, 52, of Mancelona, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on September 19, 1973, in Traverse City, the son of Michael and Denise (Young) Ackerman.
Jason graduated from Mancelona High School in 1991 and shortly after he began working at East Jordan Iron Works until he was no longer able to about 15 years ago. Spending time with family and friends was the most important thing in Jason’s life. He liked to play horseshoes, shoot darts, play foosball, and have a couple cold beers with good company. In his younger days, Jason also enjoyed fishing on inland lake and deer hunting.
Jason is survived by his son, Kirk Ackerman (Olivia Rowe) of Mancelona; his granddaughter, Tatum; and his high school sweetheart, Laura Ackerman of Bellaire.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
