Diane Ackerman

Diane E. Ackerman, 75, beloved wife of Michael Ackerman, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 16, 2026. Born in Bristol, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Coleman) Gesswin.

Diane was a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), often serving as the go-to source of medical advice for her family and their children. She served the local community with devotion, caring for patients ranging from young children to the elderly, always adding her special touch of compassion and care. She was known for her passion and gifted talent as a baker and cook, sharing delicious meals with her family and extended family, believing her cooking brought people together in love and fellowship.

Above all else, Diane's greatest calling and deepest joy was her family. She poured her heart into being a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, faith, and unconditional love. She found her greatest happiness gathered around the table with those she cherished most - family and dearest friends alike.

Diane and Michael shared a loving marriage of 48 years, built on faith, devotion, and partnership, setting a beautiful example of commitment for their children and grandchildren.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, shopping, and most especially, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted and long-time member of Full Gospel Interdenominational Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her beloved sons, Gabriel Ackerman and his wife, Michelle, and Seth Ackerman and his wife, Christa; her cherished grandchildren, Evan, Levi, Sophia, and Owen; and her brothers, Robert Gesswin and his wife, Diane, and David Gesswin.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, CT 06040, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Cemetery, Manchester. John F. Tierney Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
