Cynthia K. Ackerman, 68, of Chandlerville, passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Cass County Senior Living in Virginia. She was born on November 24, 1957 in Beardstown to Albert and Elizabeth (Culp) Pherigo. She married John E. Ackerman on August 9, 1975 at Bethel Baptist Church in Bath, and he preceded her in death on August 31, 2007.

Cynthia is survived by her sons, John Ackerman, Jr. of Mt. Sterling, Daniel (Tammy) Ackerman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Joseph (Heather Krohe) Ackerman of Virginia, Joshua (Gina Curry) of Rushville, and Justin (Jennifer) Ackerman of Springfield; grandchildren, Blain Lyons, Gavin Ackerman, Sam Ackerman, Easton Ackerman, Charlie Ackerman, and Hannah Ackerman; great-grandchildren, Michael and Colton; siblings, Nanette Shaner of Virginia, Rick Pherigo of Chandlerville, Allen (Karen) Pherigo of Chandlerville, Ronnie (Andrea) Pherigo of Chandlerville, and Debbie (Larry) Justice of Virginia; brother-in-law, Terry Garner; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Diane Garner; brother, Mike Pherigo; and grandson, Lance.

Cynthia was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She attended Lincoln Land Community College and worked for many years at EMI Book Bindery for many years. She also helped her father with his scrap business, picked ducks with her mother, and taught a class in canning at Lincoln Land.

Cynthia was a pillar of the community, serving as a member of the Chandlerville American Legion Auxiliary and as a Boy Scout troop leader. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, canning, and making beautiful floral arrangements. She also enjoyed being outdoors hunting for mushrooms or ginseng and going to yard sales. She was a kind person who would help anyone.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville, with a visitation two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Rev. George Garnot will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Bethel Cemetery in Bath.

Memorial donations may be made in Cynthia's name to the Chandlerville American Legion. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
