Michael Pinckney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 19, 2026.
Michael "Mike" Pinckney, 59, of East Hampton Connecticut, passed away on February 17th, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 31 in Abington, Pennsylvania, Mike was the beloved son of Veda Pinckney (Nelson) and the late Joseph M. Pinckney.

Mike grew up with a love for people, sports, and hard work. He graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1985 and went on to attend the University of Arkansas. Throughout his life, Mike built a career doing what he loved, helping people make their homes special through his passion for selling furniture.

Known for being kind, caring, and always willing to help, Mike had a gift for showing up exactly when you needed him. If something needed lifting, fixing, moving, or just laughing about, Mike was there, usually with a joke, a smile, and a comment that could lighten even the heaviest moment.

Mike is survived by his mother Veda; his MUCH younger sister Robyn Draugelis and her husband Michael of Manchester, CT; and his four children that he loved so much, Brandon, Casey, Alyssa, and Jared of Connecticut. He also leaves behind their mother, Shelby who will "always be family", as well as his beloved cousin Don Madison, Don's wife Carolyn, and their son Steven and his son Donaven.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph M Pinckney, and many dear relatives who we're sure were waiting to greet him, ready to catch up and share a few laughs.

In keeping with Mike's wishes, there will be no formal services. Anyone who knew Mike knows he wouldn't have wanted a big fuss. His family encourages those who knew him to honor his memory by spending time with loved ones and lending a helping hand to someone in need, just as Mike would have done.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, friends, and family who supported Mike throughout his illness. Your visits, calls, texts, and unwavering compassion provided strength and comfort during a very difficult time.

I love you more than you will ever know Big Bro. Until we meet again, but let's not rush that reunion!

I went to high school with Michael and without a doubt I can say that I remember him always smiling and being kind. I was so sad to see he left us too soon. I´m glad it sounds like he lived life well and experienced the importance of love in his family including the love of children. May you all carry his kindness forward.

Most sincerely,
Catherine Robacker
